Consacrato da Dita Von Teese, che con le sue forme d’avorio si è bagnata nel bicchiere di Martini in diretta dal teatro Ariston durante il Festival di Sanremo 2010, e dall’omonimo film interpretato da Christina Aguilera, al suo debutto cinematografico, il Burlesque negli ultimi anni è diventato una vera e propria moda.
Dagli stilisti proposte anni ’50, pin up style, pizzi, bustini e spettacoli in tv. Ma il Burlesque non è solo questo. Dietro lo show ci sono accademie, ore di studio e tanta voglia di ironia, senza scadere nella volgarità. “Il Burlesque è leggerezza. È un gioco per chi si esibisce e per chi guarda. Quelli che vediamo sul palco sono veri e propri personaggi a 360 gradi: ogni animatrice incarna, durante le sue performance, personalità diversissime fra loro, studiate con molta attenzione”, commenta Chiara che da anni segue assiduamente gli spettacoli in un famoso locale romano. “Ho iniziato ad amare questo mondo dopo aver visto un vecchio filmato, in cui una ballerina Burlesque faceva ruotare i suoi copricapezzoli piumati scuotendo le spalle. Un movimento, chiamato Tassel Twirling, difficilissimo da copiare senza aver appreso la tecnica, ma estremamente affascinante e divertente. Poi ho iniziato ad informarmi, soprattutto su internet, sulla storia di quest’arte meravigliosa. È stato amore a prima vista”, racconta.
La storia del Burlesque segue due percorsi ben diversi fra loro: quello inglese, nato nella seconda metà dell’Ottocento, in cui con questo termine ci si riferiva ad uno scritto comico con intenti satirici, ispirato spesso da un testo drammatico; e quello americano, diffusosi intorno al 1865, con cui si intendeva un genere di spettacolo per adulti, incentrato su scene comiche a sfondo erotico, danze del ventre e siparietti improvvisati basati sul doppio senso. L’accezione americana, con le sue evoluzioni, è arrivata fino ai giorni nostri, decretando il successo di splendide donne come Dixie Evans, Gipsy Rose Lee, Tempest Storm, Blaze Starr, Ann Corio e Bettie Page (spesso associata al burlesque, nonostante non si sia quasi mai esibita sul palco, ma solo in alcuni film girati da Irving Klaw).
Le critiche da parte della società non sono mai state poche e ancora oggi, nonostante il boom, la performer di Burlesque viene ancora giudicata con negatività. “Il Burlesque è una forma d’arte fine a se stessa. È ben lontano dallo strip tease. Non è volgare – continua Chiara -. La donna si spoglia con movimenti eleganti e non rimane mai totalmente nuda. Gioca con il pubblico senza esserne l’oggetto. Inoltre, le performer non seguono il modello standard di bellezza da copertina”. Alte, magre, bassine o cicciottelle: il Burlesque non ha limiti di taglia o di centimetro. Tutti i corpi vengono valorizzati dalla personalità del personaggio recitato, dalle sue movenze e dagli abiti che indossa. “Un buon esempio da trasmettere al mondo della moda, e non solo. Anche per questo motivo a seguire questi spettacoli sono più donne che uomini”.
